Wedding invitations - your guests answer from their phone

In Bridely you can make a digital wedding invitation for free and send each household its own link, on WhatsApp, by e-mail, on Messenger or anywhere you can paste it. Guests open it on their phone, with no account and no app, and tell you who is coming and which menu they'd like. Their replies go straight into your guest list, and anyone who can't come frees up their seat.

How it works in Bridely

  1. Pick a design

Start from a free design or browse the premium ones. Your names, the date and the venues come from your wedding details, and the wording can be in Romanian or English.

  2. Make it yours

Change the text, fonts, colours and photos from your computer or phone.

  3. Set up the guest page

Next to the invitation, guests can find the schedule, directions, the date to reply by and anything you've written under Good to know. You decide what's shown.

  4. Send each household its link

Share the link on WhatsApp, by e-mail or on Messenger, or copy it. For several households at once, copy all their links or ready-written messages in one go.

  5. Follow the replies

See who has opened the invitation and who has replied, and send a short reminder to anyone who hasn't answered yet.

What to put on a wedding invitation

A digital invitation gets read quickly, often on WhatsApp between other messages. Keep the invitation focused on what matters most: your names, the date, the time and the place. Everything else can go on the guest page.

Send one link per household. A family of four answers together, but each person says whether they're coming and picks a menu, and children can have the kids' menu or a half portion. Guests invited on their own can bring someone and add their name when they reply.

  • Your names, the date and the place, on the invitation itself
  • The civil ceremony, the church ceremony and the party, each with its time
  • The date you need replies by
  • Dress code, children, accommodation or transport under Good to know

Sending invitations on WhatsApp

Many families will open your invitation on WhatsApp. If you've saved a guest's phone number, Bridely opens a chat with them with the message already written. You press send yourself, so it comes from your own number. Without a number, WhatsApp opens and you choose the person.

When you share a household's link, it moves to Sent automatically, so it's easy to see who you haven't written to yet. As the deadline gets closer, select the households that haven't replied and copy a ready-written reminder for them, each with its own name and link.

When to send invitations and when to ask for replies

Send your invitations a few weeks before the wedding and ask for replies a little ahead of the day. That leaves you time to confirm the final number with your venue, plan the tables and settle the menus. Guests who need to travel will appreciate knowing the date as early as possible.

You set the deadline on the guest page. Until then, guests can change their answer themselves. After it, they can no longer reply through the link and are asked to get in touch with you directly if anything changes. After the wedding, the same link shows them your thank-you message.

Each guest sees what applies to them

Not everyone is invited to everything. You can show the civil ceremony only to close family and the party to everyone, based on each guest's group. On the wedding day, the page shows what's next and how to get there.

Guests can leave you a message, each household can suggest up to three songs, and they can add the wedding to their phone's calendar or to Google Calendar. You read the messages in Bridely, and you can download the song list or e-mail it straight to your DJ.

Questions couples ask

Do guests need an account or an app?

No. Each household gets a link that opens in their phone's browser. They choose who is coming and what each person would like to eat, then send. If they come back to the same link before your deadline, they can change their answer.

How many invitations can I send for free?

You can send invitations to 50 households for free. A household is one guest with their partner and children, so a family of four counts once. You can add as many guests to your list as you like; the limit only applies to how many households you send invitations to. With the Wedding Pass, you can send invitations to every household on your list.

Can I send the invitation on WhatsApp?

Yes. Choose WhatsApp on the household's row. If their number is saved, a chat with that person opens with the message already written. You press send yourself, so the invitation comes from your own number.

Will I know who opened the invitation?

Yes. For each household you can see whether the invitation hasn't been sent yet, or has been sent, opened or answered, and when that happened. Opening your own invitation to check it doesn't count as the guest opening it.

Can children and plus-ones answer too?

Yes. Everyone in the household has their own line, and children can have the kids' menu or a half portion. Guests invited on their own can bring someone and add their name when they reply. If you'd rather they didn't, you can turn this off in the guest page settings.

Can I see the premium designs before paying?

Yes. You can preview them before you decide and carry on with a free design in the meantime. Using a premium design needs the Wedding Pass, which you pay for once.

I made a mistake in an invitation I've already sent. What now?

Fix it in the editor. The links you've sent stay the same and show the corrected version, so there's no need to send them again. If you want to stop a household's link working, revoke it. The household stays on your guest list.
